Vote for the new BDA Principal Executive Committee candidates
Ballot papers for the British Dental Association’s new Principal Executive Committee candidates are being sent out across the UK, giving members the opportunity to vote for both constituency and UK-wide representatives. Members are urged to look out for the papers, which will be landing on door steps any day now.

Dentist with a distinguished army career assumes Presidency of BDA
Frank Holloway, a retired army dentist based in Surrey, was installed as the 126th President of the British Dental Association (BDA) today at 9am (Thursday 26 April). Dr Holloway, the first armed forces dentist to receive this honour since 2003, was presented with his chain of office and made his inaugural speech as BDA President at the opening of the 2012 British Dental Conference and Exhibition at the Manchester Central Convention Complex.

BDA issues fresh warning on scams
The British Dental Association (BDA) has renewed its warning to members about companies that compile business directories attempting to scam dentists. The new warning follows a recent increase in the number of calls received by BDA advisers by dentists who have been contacted by such companies.

Expenses uplift for England another pay cut
Following the Department of Health’s announcement that NHS contract values in England will be increased once again by only 0.5 per cent, the BDA has expressed its anger both at what is in effect another pay cut for dentists and at the wholly unreasonable ‘package’ of conditions that it appears to have attached to the increase.

The British Dental Association (BDA) has reiterated to NHS Choices concerns about shortcomings with the use of the site to allow feedback about dental practices. BDA first ever film festival opens in April
The British Dental Association’s (BDA’s) first ever film festival is being staged at the organisation’s London headquarters during April and May 2012. The season, Dentists in the movies, will feature free-to-attend screenings of a variety of dentistry-related films. It will also showcase a range of objects and dental history featured in the BDA’s Museum. The events are open to dentists and non-dentists alike.

New figures published last week by the National Association of Specialist Dental Accountants and Lawyers confirm concerns raised by the British Dental Association that dental practices are coming under increasing pressure from a deluge of rising expenses, alongside a down-turn in fee income and profits across both the NHS and private sectors.
